#82 Marble Key

In Rumaisa’s design, a marble runs along a tube to play the piano, then returns along a second tube to the player.  Rumaisa suggested having running water in the tube to make the marble run faster, but when we returned to Heathfield Primary School to think about the details of the design, we weren’t sure how well this would work.  We were also a bit worried about having running water on the stage: we don’t want the piano to get wet!  Instead, we decided to have the marble run down as much of a slope as possible.  The pupils then thought about how best to support the tubes, and out of many ideas we’ve chosen to develop the supports as a set of green trees of decreasing height. Before the performance, we’ll be going back to Heathfield to ask for help in decorating all these trees.
